"Spooky Woods" - Please Read !
The following is a letter written to "Spooky Woods" which is a haunted attraction here in High Point, N.C. This year "Spooky Woods" sent out solicitations targeting area church youth groups, to come out for a night of "frightful fun." Christian youth are not suppose to be going to these places and partaking of this kind of demonic activity. Every Christian parent, young person, and pastor should be outraged by this! Here was my response:

To whom it may concern:

On Tuesday, 09-15-2009, I received in the mail your “Spooky Woods” promotion for “fright night.” It appears to be a solicitation for church youth groups. It is insulting to me and to God that you would be reaching out to churches with the “fright message”, when the same churches should be reaching out to you with the “gospel message”. I would hope that you do not have a large attendance of Christians, but if that is the case, it is a shame. Please understand that a small minority do not speak for the majority. Christians are NOT to be associated with such activities. The Bible is abundantly clear when it says that Christians are to abstain from every form of evil. If haunted houses, haunted trails, horror movies, ghouls, goblins, vampires, witches, warlocks, wiccans, zombies, blood and gore are not forms of evil; then I don’t know what is.

You should be setting an example in our communities, by promoting healthy activities for young people; not degrading our society with your “demonized”, occultist propaganda. Please read your Bible, if you don’t own one, contact our church and you will be given one free of charge. I will even counsel you on what it says about your twisted view of “frightful fun.”

Halloween, no matter how commercialized, has pagan origins. In the Old Testament, witchcraft was a crime punishable by death (Ex. 22:18; Lev. 19:31; 20:6, 27). The New Testament teaching about the occult is very clear. If you read the story of Simon in the book of Acts 8:9-24, it shows that occultism and Christianity do not mix. The account of Elymas the sorcerer in Acts 13:6-11, reveals that sorcery is violently opposed to Christianity. The Apostle Paul called Elymas a child of the DEVIL, an enemy of righteousness, and a perverter of the right ways of the Lord. Sorcery and witchcraft is also included in the works of the flesh listed in the Bible, and those who practice it cannot inherit the kingdom of God (Gal. 5:19-21). There is also no place in heaven for those who practice sorcery (Rev. 22:15). If our pastor was Anton LeVey, and we were worshippers of Satan, we would flock to your demonic attraction.
Sadly, the screams that are heard at “Spooky Woods” will be nothing compared to the screams of the lost in eternal hell fire. Our church will be praying for you and especially for your salvation. Jesus can and will save you if you will call upon Him (Rom. 10:13).

Please take us off your mailing list for next season. This kind of material is a slap in the face to every pastor and every true Christian. If you go to church, please send me your pastor’s name so I can contact him. He either does not preach THE TRUTH, or you’re not paying much attention when he does.

We are Christians; and our attitudes, our dress, and most importantly our behavior will reflect our redeemed life. As our young people's youth pastor, I do not appreciate your solicitation. Our Christian young people have enough solicitations and see enough evil and horror in this world; they don’t need your help. I not only speak for Faith Baptist Church, but every church and every pastor that stands upon the TRUTH. If we receive anymore solicitations, our area churches will protest. We practice the biblical command to; “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” (1 Thess. 5:22)
